This blog is a collection of stories and perspectives shaped by growing up in the 1960s and 1970s—a time that left its mark on who I am and how I see the world. Those years, with their lessons and memories, have followed me through life and continue to influence my outlook. From time to time, I’ll share my own reflections, while also looking back at historical moments that still have something to teach us today.
I believe I grew up during an amazing time. Born in 1958, the world seemed, at the time, very simple. I was very lucky to have grown up in a small town with great parents and lots of friends. It seems like we were shielded from the troubles of the world. This era, this background helped to shape me into what I am today….how I think, who my friends are, my interests and my perspective.
As I move on in life, I am now 67, I decided to write some of my memories over the years……and perhaps talk a little about one of my hobbies which is reading American history. My memories will be random….just what pops into my head…..but these memories are somehow etched in my brain. They seem like yesterday. I cannot explain it.
I am sure as time marches on and I continue to write the blog, I will learn more about the application (WordPress), what my readers think (if I have any) and just maybe I can also generate some interest in American history which seems to perhaps have lost its luster over the last few years.
I left home when I was 18 to join the military, but I have always embraced the values and memories of living in small town America.
