As this year comes to a close, I thought it would be a good time to share a few updates about my blog—and maybe even a handful of statistics. I believe I’ve stayed true to my original intention: to create a space that is a collection of stories and perspectives shaped by growing up in the 1960s and 1970s. Those decades left an indelible mark on who I am and how I see the world. Their lessons and memories have followed me through the years and continue to influence my outlook today. From time to time, I offer my own reflections, while also revisiting historical moments that I believe still have something to teach us.
I started this blog in December 2024, which means I’ve just passed the one-year mark. To date, I’ve written 29 posts and gathered 23 subscribers. Hardly record-breaking numbers, but that was never the point. What matters most is that I genuinely enjoy writing, and I’m grateful for the thoughtful feedback I regularly receive from a small group of loyal readers.
I’ve also recently added a public web address—https://myviewfrom58.wordpress.com—so perhaps that will help the blog reach a few more folks along the way.
I thought this would be a good time to share my “Top 10 Reads, Podcasts etc. from 2025.
Below is a list of my Top 10 reads in 2025. As you know by now, I love to read history, particularly American History:

My favorite Podcast is: “Legends of the Old West”
My Favorite YouTube Channels are: “Travel with a Wise Guy”, “7idea Productions” (7idea Productions captures modern-day railroads in the North America. Big diesel engines, majestic steam locomotives and beautiful scenery) and “History in Motion”.
My Favorite Magazine, “True West”
My Favorite Movies or Mini Series: “Death by Lightning”, “American Primeval” and of course any John Wayne movie (yup reruns, but I can watch them over and over).
Currently Reading, “The Revolutionary, Samual Adams” by Stacy Schiff.
Current Audio Book, “The Unexpected President; The Life and Times of Chester Arthur”, by Scott Greenberger.
In the queue, “Indianapolis” by Lynn Vincent.
What do you think of my list? What are your Favorites? Let me know by posting in the comments.
